And there’s nothing like walking into a kitchen with spiced apple cider or homemade chicken soup simmering on the stove. Here are five easy spice blends you can make at home this season.

Tips for Success

  • Mix each spice blend and store in a labeled airtight container.
  • Store away from heat and sunlight.
  • Use within 6 months.
  • Season recipes in small amounts to start, then adjust to your taste.

Note: Each spice blend makes about ⅓ cup.

Pumpkin Spice

  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 teaspoon cloves

Poultry Seasoning

    • 2 teaspoons dried thyme
    • 2 teaspoons dried marjoram
    • 2 teaspoons rosemary

Wassail Spice

  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg

Pickling Spice
Commonly used to preserve seasonal produce, for healthy snacks year round. Or grind and add to stews, veggies, or bean dishes for a zesty kick.

  • 1 tablespoon mustard seeds
  • 1 tablespoon coriander seeds
  • 1 tablespoon dill seeds
  • 1 tablespoon peppercorns
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Ranch Seasoning
Mix with Greek yogurt to serve with salads and fresh veggies, or use as a seasoning for popcorn.
