Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound dried red beans
  • 6 cups water
  • 1 cup low-sodium smoked turkey ham, diced
  • 1 cup onion, diced
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sodium-free all-purpose seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup green pepper, diced
  • 1 teaspoon salt substitute
  • 2 cubes no-sodium beef bouillon

Instructions
 

  • Sort beans and remove any shriveled beans, stones or debris. Rinse beans and pour into a large bowl. Fill with enough water to cover beans. Let soak overnight.
  • Drain water and transfer beans to large pot. Add water, turkey ham, onions, pepper, all-purpose seasoning, garlic, green pepper, beef bouillon, and salt substitute.
  • Simmer beans on low heat until tender, about 45 minutes.
