Ingredients
- 1 cup skim or ½% milk
- ¼ cup 100% apple juice
- 1 medium apple, cored and diced
- ⅔ cup rolled oats
- 2 tablespoons raisins or dried cherries
- 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts, peanuts, or pecans (optional)
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
Instructions
- Add milk, juice, and chopped apple to a medium saucepan. Let stand for 5 minutes.
- Heat the mixture on medium high until it starts to boil.
- Stir in oatmeal, cinnamon, dried fruit, and brown sugar.
- Return to low boil, reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and sprinkle with nuts before serving.
