Ingredients

Makes 4 servings. Check items off as you go.
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 1/2 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • black pepper (about 10 cranks of a pepper mill)
  • salt, to taste

Directions

  1. Combine all of ingredients except the salt in a small sauce pan. Stir and heat over medium heat, allowing it to come up to a slight simmer.
  2. Let the sauce cook and simmer lightly, stirring often, for five minutes. Taste the sauce and add salt if needed.
