dried fruit such as raisins or dried cranberries

applesauce honey*, or maple syrup

tablespoons
almonds, pecans, or walnuts,
finely chopped, optional
Instructions
Mix oats, cinnamon, salt, water, milk, and dried fruit in a deep microwave-safe bowl.
Set microwave to 70-80% power and cook oatmeal for about 3 minutes, pausing the microwave to stir the oatmeal as it cooks to break up bubbles.
Remove carefully. Top with applesauce, honey*, or maple syrup and chopped nuts, if using, and serve.
Notes
*Avoid giving honey to children under the age of one.
Change it Up
Add fresh or frozen berries and a dollop of plain yogurt.
Heat up puréed or canned pumpkin and combine before serving to add more fiber and make the oatmeal extra creamy.
Top with granola to add more flavor, crunch, and nutrients.
