1 largeGranny Smith apple (or other variety),peeled, cored, and chopped into ½-inch pieces
½teaspooncinnamon
2cupsold-fashioned oats
1 ¾cupswater
Instructions
Combine apples, apple juice, and cinnamon in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Allow mixture to boil for 3 minutes, the reduce heat to low and simmer for another 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
While apple mixture is simmering, prepare oatmeal.
Bring water to a boil in a separate pot.
Stir in oats and reduce heat to medium. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.
To serve, divide oatmeal evenly into 4 servings and top with apple mixture.
