Ingredients

Makes 8 servings. Check items off as you go.
  • 2½ pounds ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1 green bell pepper chopped
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 1½ cups ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 teaspoons chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper

Directions

  1. Brown ground beef in a large skillet. Drain off fat.
  2. Add green pepper and onion to the meat. Add ketchup, water, garlic, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine.
  3. Simmer over medium-low heat for 20 minutes.
  4. Serve on whole-grain buns
