Ingredients
Makes 6 servings. Check items off as you go.
- 1 pound ground beef (or turkey)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion diced
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- One (28-ounce can) crushed tomatoes
- ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions
- Heat olive oil in a pot over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned. If using a higher fat content beef, drain excess fat from pot.
- Add onion, garlic, and butter to beef and sauté until onion is soft, about 5 minutes.
- Add tomatoes, Italian seasoning, and pepper to the pot. Stir to combine.
- Cover with a lid and allow sauce to come to a simmer. Once simmering, reduce heat to low and let sauce simmer for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, add about ½ teaspoon of salt, stir to combine.
- Serve over pasta.
