Sweet and Spicy Slaw

A summer slaw with cabbage, apples, and raisins in a sweet and spicy vinaigrette.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups cabbage, chopped or shredded
  • 2 medium apples, finely chopped
  • ½ cup raisins
  • 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup honey*
  • ¼ teaspoon ground red pepper, or ½ teaspoon hot pepper sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon salt, optional

Instructions
 

  • Add cabbage, apples and raisins to a large bowl. Mix gently.
  • Whisk together oil, honey, vinegar, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.
  • Add dressing to large bowl and mix until salad is well coated.
  • Serve as a side dish, or as a topping for sandwiches in place of lettuce.

Notes

*Avoid giving honey to children under one year of age.
Change it Up 
  • Add other chopped or shredded veggies such as carrots, radishes, cucumber, onion, or peppers.
